SECOND SUNDY BREAKFAST will take a hiatus for awhile.
At Blessed Sacrament Church: Science and Our Catholic Faith: Today more than ever before, Our Catholic faith is being questioned by those who see no need for religion. Science provides verifiable truths. Religion is founded upon faith which cannot be verified. Indeed, faith describes a relationship with God whom we cannot even prove exists according to empirical evidence. There are also a number of popular myths about the Church and its supposed conflict with scientific discovery. Some of these misunderstandings are the result of presuming objections raised by some Protestant traditions are shared by the Catholic Church.
Join us on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, in Blessed Sacrament Hall. We will begin promptly at 6:30pm and conclude at 8:00pm.
Happy August Birthday to

*Father Michael's "Penny Catechism" (A fun and informative little morsel of Catholic teaching and trivia)* Last week's question along with the answer:
Question #130: What is the process for one to be canonized a saint?
Answer: There are several steps in the process. First, a bishop must investigate the life of the candidate. The bishop names the candidate "Servant of God" and sends all the information to the Vatican with his endorsement. There, the Congregation for the
Causes of Saints begins an in-depth investigation. The Promoter of the Faith, better known as the "Devil's Advocate" attempts to introduce doubt and disprove the assertions of holiness. The congregation recommends to the Holy Father the candidate be given the title Venerable. The next stage is to declare the individual "Blessed." This stage requires a miracle. It is usually a healing miracle simply because of the usual medical documentation. The miraculous healing must be instantaneous, complete, and permanent. Extensive medical testing must fail to discover a cause for the healing. To be canonized as a saint, a second miracle must be performed as a direct result of seeking the intercession of the Blessed candidate. Remember, that it is God who performs miracles and answers prayers. We ask the saint to join us in asking God for a miracle.
Question #131: What is a Mass intention?
(The answer will appear in next week's email along with a new question)
