At Blessed Sacrament Church: Science and Our Catholic Faith: Today more than ever before, Our Catholic faith is being questioned by those who see no need for religion. Science provides verifiable truths. Religion is founded upon faith which cannot be verified. Indeed, faith describes a relationship with God whom we cannot even prove exists according to empirical evidence. There are also a number of popular myths about the Church and its supposed conflict with scientific discovery. Some of these misunderstandings are the result of presuming objections raised by some Protestant traditions are shared by the Catholic Church.
Join us on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, in Blessed Sacrament Hall. We will begin promptly at 6:30pm and conclude at 8:00pm.
The Church in the Third Millennium. Dying or Thriving? This is the topic of this year’s Blessed Sacrament parish day of reflection Saturday, September 7, 2019, given by Father Sweeney. Is what the Church has to offer no longer needed in the modern age? Has humanity outgrown spirituality? Or does the Church provide the answer to life’s deepest questions of meaning and purpose? Without faith, will humanity self-destruct? Join us in Blessed Sacrament Church Hall on September 7

*Father Michael's "Penny Catechism" (A fun and informative little morsel of Catholic teaching and trivia)* Last week's question along with the answer:
Question #131: What is a Mass intention?
Answer: The holy Mass is the principle prayer of the Church. Just as in other prayers, we may have a special need or concern we wish to pray for. Every participant at Mass can have their own intention or concern they are praying for. The specific intention for the Mass that is verbalized and/or published is the intention the priest holds in his mind and heart during that Mass. To "Have a Mass said," for someone is to arrange for the priest to have that intention while celebrating that Mass.
Question#132: Has the Pope always resided in Rome?
(The answer will appear in next week's email along with a new question)
