*Father Michael's "Penny Catechism" (A fun and informative little morsel of Catholic teaching and trivia)* Last week's question along with the answer:
Question #144: As Catholics, is it acceptable to believe in ghosts?
Answer: Telling ghost stories can be a lot of fun. Also, there are strange occurrences that we can not yet explain. However, the classic idea of a person's spirit haunting a house or behaving in some frightening way is rejected. One's first thought might be to wonder how the Church distinguishes between supposed ghosts and the appearances of the saints. Simply put, the saints are sent by God for the good of souls. There is no created thing that is not under God's control. God has allowed rebellious angels, but there are no renegade souls dashing about haunting houses and shouting "boo" at the most unexpected times.
Question #145: Does the Church still perform exorcisms?
The answer will appear in next week's bulletin along with a new question
